The Do’s and Don’ts of Branding Your Business Online

DO make sure to tweet daily. Although on a lot of social media platforms, it’s okay to post content on a daily basis, if there’s one place where your presence should be felt on a daily basis, it’s on Twitter. Whether it’s the announcement of a new blog post, the heads up for a cool giveaway, or simply a quote for people to ponder, make sure not to let 24 hours go by without tweeting something. The good news is that thanks to Hootsuite, you can preprogram your tweets so that you don’t have to always remind yourself to do it.

DON’T have a dated website. This next don’t is very important. If your website looks dated, that is not going to impress the visitors to your site. And being that websites are oftentimes the first impression that individuals get when it comes to businesses, it’s essential that yours is visually appealing, your content is both educational and entertaining, and also that it loads quickly. Although it’s advisable that you hire a professional web designer to assist you, you can also go to sites like WordPress to load up some of your own templates too.

DO engage website and social media commenters. Another awesome online marketing tip is that you shouldn’t forget to personally engage those who comment on your website and social media accounts. When individuals feel like they are connected to you, not only are they more willing to do business with you, but they also tend to not hesitate to say good things about you to others as well.

DON’T be inconsistent. If you were to read an article on the future of SEO as it directly relates to providing good copy to market your business, one of the things that it would tell you is to make sure that you are consistent with your writing. And you know what? That’s a good rule of thumb across the board. Whether it’s creating content, sending tweets, or posting videos on YouTube – whatever your branding approach is, create a schedule for each thing and be consistent with all of it. That makes you look reliable, and it’s an awesome reputation to have when it comes to marketing and branding your business online.
