How to Design an Impressive Retail Storefront

If you’re a retail store manager, then you already know that a big part of your responsibility is doing all that you can to attract as many customers to your shop as possible. And one of the best ways to do that is to create an impressive retail storefront.

Being that there are thousands of things that you can do with that space, it’s important that you apply certain design tips. That way, your storefront will be aesthetically appealing without being gaudy. It will also be creative without being cluttered.

If you’d like to know some things that you can do to achieve these kinds of results, check out these five tips:

Stick with a theme. Being that your storefront displays are basically an advertisement for what you have inside of your store, it’s a good idea to come up with designs that center around a particular theme. If a holiday is coming up, you can always use that as a source of inspiration. Otherwise, think about a particular item that you want to sell and then come up with a storefront design that can draw people’s attention to that.

Use a backdrop. One mistake that managers make with their storefronts is not implementing a backdrop – one that stands in between the items on display and the inside of your store. The reason why it’s such a good idea to add this particular element is because it prevents people from getting distracted. As a result, if your displays are eye-catching enough, it will make them want to actually walk inside of your store to see what else you have to offer.

Make your product the focal point. Something that you don’t want to do is to have prospective customers look at your storefront and be unsure about what products to focus on. That’s why in the midst of all of your design plans, it’s important that you make your products the focal point. One of the best ways to do this is to either stack the items or put them in a pyramid shape. Another thing that you should do is to implement some lighting in such a way that it shines directly on your products.

Avoid clutter. If you’ve always liked the kind of storefronts that shops like Imagine Glass have, it’s a good idea to ask them for a couple retail store layout tips as well. One that they may suggest is that you make sure to avoid having a lot of clutter in your designs. It’s OK to be fun and innovative. At the same time, you don’t want your displays looking so busy that they’re almost overwhelming. Your mannequins and props should enhance your products. It’s a good idea to remember that as you’re putting your storefronts together.

Be creative. Finally, make sure that you’re creative. That said, just because you are doing a design for a retail window, that doesn’t mean it has to look boring or traditional. The more unique and colorful your approach is, the greater chance you have of making those walking by your storefront do a double-take. And when it comes to attracting people to your store, that always works to your advantage.
